Conwy Pirate Weekend is to host it’s very first Wedding!

The event is celebrating its 5th year of Pirates, Buccaneers and Salty Sea dogs! Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th June 2016 marks the annual invasion of the town. The event is to host a wedding of two keen pirates. On Saturday 25th June at 3pm aboard the Vilma tall ship (sailing into the quay at 1.30pm) the captain will marry the couple.

Claire Williams of HTC Entertainment and Events, who organise the weekend long festivities said:

“I was contacted by a lady with an unusual request. She asked if there was any way they could get married aboard the tall ship. It was their dream wedding! Of course this is a request we couldn’t refuse. In years gone by I had in fact been a wedding co-ordinator and I know how much of a special day this will be for them.”

They are an unconventional couple and didn’t wish to have a big white wedding. In fact, a pirate ceremony aboard a tall ship is their dream.

“I have been in touch with local businesses about the wedding and they were more than happy to get into the spirit of the event and offer some amazing gifts to make the day really memorable for the couple; a large pirate chest wedding cake which will be cut and handed to the crowd in celebration from ‘Icing on the Cake’ in Llanfairfechan, a bouquet and button hole from ‘Daisy Chain’ in Conwy, Cupcakes from Lisa’s Little Cake Company, gifts from Powlsons printers & Seahorse Art&Design and drinks from the ‘Blue Bell Pub’ in Conwy.”

The event will open at 10am each day. 2016 will see the return of the famous best dressed pirate competition, a clash of the mightiest pirates in a gruelling barrel carrying race, live entertainment from an assortment of talented artists, and good merchants with an array of artefacts for sale in the Smuggler’s Market.
